    YAKOV KASMAN JETS CROSS-COUNTRY TO DELIVER AMAZING PERFORMANCE OF RACHMANINOFF'S PIANO CONCERTO NO. 3.

    Russian pianist Yakov Kasman, who made his American debut winning the silver medal in the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1997, made his Portland debut Oct. 4 as the pinch hitter on Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 with Music Director Carlos Kalmar and the Oregon Symphony. Kasman, who arrived from Birmingham, Ala. one hour before showtime, amazed the audience and critics with a stunning performance of the difficult concerto that had the crowd on its feet.
